A note on gallery etiquette with children:
Especially with young children, the first order of business in enjoying a gallery is discussing what proper gallery etiquette looks like. When our children were younger, we took the time each visit at the first painting to talk about how close our feet (and hands) should be from each painting. Our voices are just above a whisper and we walk slowly. When I sensed that they were getting tired or restless, that was my cue to leave (whether it was 5 minutes or 2 hours). Laying this foundation has led to many stress-free and enjoyable gallery visits for all.
